Benefits — Expediency and a Commitment to Service

The state of Ohio has a tradition of looking toward the future and striving to make things better. To that end, in 2008 the state engaged in the analysis and development of The State of Ohio Finance Rapid Benchmark Report (PDF) with the Hackett Group. During this analysis it was identified that costs could be reduced through the implementation of a shared services model.

The Office of Budget and Management turned to the private sector to identify ways it could improve its cost to serve and reduce operating costs. The end result, Ohio Shared Services, a fully operational state government-run shared services center. By consolidating common transactional processes into a single organization, the State of Ohio is working to reduce processing costs, processing time, and strengthen customer service to state employees and suppliers.
